ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Grade 1 - Grade 5)

Designed on the basis of Singapore math common core that stresses multifaceted tasks, logic, and inferential reasoning, JCS Elementary School curriculum enhance students’ comprehension and creativity. Special project requirements for performing arts education, physical education, and Christian education at this level is aimed at intellectual, spiritual and character cultivation. All classrooms are equipped with smartboards, projectors, AV devices, tablet PCs, and other state of the art technology. We are preparing students for the 21st century global education from early on.


English curriculum was developed based on the latest Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
English education at Prep 1 and Elementary School level is an integrated voice system that combines reading and writing integrated voice system.
It constitutes part of multisensory education program. Prep 1 and lower grade elementary students learn reading, writing, and speaking by practicing 70 phonograms, which comprise all sounds of English.
This study method is effective in facilitating students’ understanding of punctuation, grammar, spelling, and parts of speech as well as in improving reading comprehension.

Upon advancing to the fourth grade, students learn narrative, explanatory, descriptive, and other types of writing. In addition, we offer education program in research methodology.


Our math curriculum has been built around Singapore math to cultivate students’ analytic and inferential reasoning.
After learning the such basic concepts of mathematics as geometry, sizes, shapes, planes, solids, and symbols, students move onto measurements, currency value, multiplication and division, fractions, decimals, graphs, symmetry, deductive reasoning, and word problems.


Our science program has been developed to assist students in extrapolation of scientific theories and principles to the real world. They learn to observe and analyze their surrounding environment and to solve problems through the engineering design process.

Korean Language & Literature

Prep 1 and elementary school Korean curriculum focuses on Korean language and culture with the aim of instilling in students Korean identity.
In strict accordance with the content of the state-issued Korean textbooks and the requirements by the Ministry of Education, we emphasize speaking, hearing, reading, and writing to improve students’ overall Korean skills. Students are encouraged to organize and present their ideas through discussions and debates. Poems, fairy tales, and short stories allow students to develop empathy and understand literature. Writing assignments in which they express their thoughts and feelings help to build on creativity.
