셰익스피어 프로그램을 통해 JCS 고등학생들은 윌리엄 셰익스피어의 작품을 읽고, 분석하고, 무대에서 직접
표현하며, 고전을 깊이 있게 체험하게 됩니다.
왜 고전을 공부해야 할까요?
고전 문학은 인간의 본성, 정체성, 도덕, 사회적 갈등 등 시대를 초월한 본질적인 주제를 다룹니다.
이러한 작품을 탐구하는 과정은 학생들에게 비판적 사고력, 윤리적 판단력, 세상을 바라보는 깊이 있는
시각을 길러줍니다. 특히 셰익스피어의 언어와 인물, 사상은 학생들의 지적·창의적 역량을 도전하게 만듭니다.

JCS Shakespeare Theater Program
At JCS, we believe that studying the classics is not just an academic exercise—it’s a foundation for future success. Through the Shakespeare Theater Program, our high school students engage deeply with classic English literature by reading, analyzing, and performing works by William Shakespeare.
Why study the classics?
Classical texts explore timeless themes such as morality, identity, human nature, and social conflict. Engaging with these works helps students develop critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and a deeper understanding of the world. Shakespeare’s language, characters, and ideas challenge students to grow intellectually and creatively.
A valuable asset for U.S. college admissions
Top U.S. universities actively seek students who have engaged meaningfully with complex literature. The ability to interpret and express classical ideas—especially through performance—demonstrates not only advanced English proficiency but also creativity, leadership, and cultural literacy.
