American Mathematics Competitions (AMC)

The American Mathematics Competition, an internationally-recognized competition, has been conducted in Korea since 2006, with an increasing number of participants every year. It is an excellent contest to draw out students' competencies by asking novel questions about how to approach the essence and fundamental concepts of mathematics. Prestigious universities including MIT and Caltech give weight to AMC scores in admissions qualifications.

AMC is divided into several admissions based on age and test scores. JCS's middle and high students (Grades 6-12) participate annually to measure their math skills and engage in an international competition. One of JCS students who participated in 2021 and 2022 AMC 10, 12 ranked the top 2.5% in the world and joined ‘AIME’ (The American Invitational Mathematics Examination).

Breakthrough Junior Challenge Science Contest

The 'Breakthrough Junior Challenge' is a global science competition for middle and high students (Grades 6 to 12) co-hosted by Khan Academy and National Geographic. Students choose a theory from the fields of mathematics, physics, or biology and create a video of 90 seconds to explain the theory.

Winning students and teachers receive a scholarship of over $250,000 and also get a weighted score when applying to prestigious engineering universities.

JCS's middle and high students participate in the Breakthrough Junior Challenge annually, consistently ranking in the top 5% and top 30% of students
